Senior Night MaterialsThroughout the course of the academic year, our high school senior scholars, families and mentors are invited to attend quarterly workshops around career and college readiness. These workshops serve as a way for scholars and the adults in their lives to get on the same page when it comes to postsecondary planning.
If you are unable to make it to a senior night, or would like a refresher of the material covered, be sure to use this page to get up to speed. Still have questions? Reach out to your Program Manager! |
September 2017 Senior Night |
This night serves as a broad introduction to senior year. Students identified their interests and goals by creating a "vision board," or collage. In terms of content, scholars and mentors were introduced to our Denver Urban Scholars senior timeline and the Denver Scholarship Foundation's awesome website, which breaks down scholarships by deadline, making it easier for students to prioritize which scholarships they apply to first.
We also did a brief review of financial aid and the FAFSA. The Denver Scholarship Foundation hosts free FAFSA workshops that you can attend. Click here to view the dates of these workshops, and to see which ones you qualify to attend. |

April 2017 Senior Night |
Our final Senior Night of the academic year is all about staying on track as high school graduation approaches and preparing for success over the summer. We encourage students to continue to search for scholarships, as some are still open for new applicants. Not sure where to look? We recommend the Denver Scholarship Foundation's website.
For students entering higher education in the summer or fall, we recommend checking out the Campus Connections page on this website. While it focuses on Colorado schools, it is a great place to get information about what student services are available for students on college campuses. High school graduates in Denver Urban Scholars have the option of continuing to meet with a Program Manager when they start college. We went over what the college (or Capstones) program with us looks like. If you want more information, or if you/your scholar are interested in Capstones, reach out to your current Program Manager. We will link to more resources for this Senior Night as they become available! |
